I studied as a Graphic Designer at Plymouth, I loved graphics and still do. One of my best friends and I were the Art Pixies. After graduating I took a sidestep and worked in layout design for textbooks, before freelancing for a while. Times got hard and then my health threw a spanner in the proverbial works too.
Being somewhat strapped for cash and of a naturally creative bent, I started to think laterally and make things when I needed or wanted them and learn new skills. This lead to gifts for friends and family, they were effectively my crash test dummies, everything from hedgerow jam and handmade cards to leather bound notebooks and crocheted cuteness.
After some (a lot of) encouragement I decided to grasp the nettle and develop The Craft Pixie, so I started to create... some of which you'll see in the Pixiefolios.
I have green aspirations and hate waste so I most of the fabrics and wools I use are reclaimed, recycled or donated, which in turn makes every product very limited edition if not entirely unique.
The mixed media scrapbooks/photo albums and some of the cards I make use of all sorts of recycled ephemera where applicable, some of the cards are pure designerly fun or paper engineering.
